Recipients of the state's scholastic honor from Ringgold County were Maggie GILLILAND of Mount Ayr, Daniel GRAHAM of Diagnal and Anna RUSK of Bedford, all seniors at Mount Ayr Community high school.

Learning and discussion about issues related to the Constitution with teachers and students from across the country, meeting with Iowa Congressmen and visiting the Holocaust Museum were just part of the experience of a Mount Ayr Community high school student and teacher recently. Senior Anna RUSK and Mrs. Pam CROSS, junior-senior high school social studies teacher, attended the Close Up Foundation's education travel program in Washington, D.C. Feb. 9-March 6. RUSK was chosen as one of five students from across the state for the program as part of the "Know Your Constitution" project and was sponsored by the Iowa State Bar Association.

A Mount Ayr Community high school student will attend the annual Capitol Project conferences for high school students. Amanda HYNEK of Ellston, a Mount Ayr Community high school student, will attend. Participants learn about legislative process and government agencies while being imersed in the democratic process during four days at the State Capitol in Des Moines.
