COMMANDER JAMES E. SHEIL
James SHEIL was one of Marea (GROGAN) and Ed SHEIL's five sons who served their country during World War II. During World War I, Ed SHEIL, the father, served in the
American Expeditionary Forces.
James E. SHEIL enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II on September 7, 1942 as an aviation cadet. After earning his
wings of Navy Gold, he served in carrier squadrons from torpedo bombers to jet fights; on aircraft carriers and on staffs.
James retired from the U.S. Navy after 24 years of service on September 1, 1967.
James died on January 14, 2003, Coronado, San Diego County, California.
