MARVIN DALE WYER

Marvin Dale WYER, a graduate of Mount Ayr Community High School, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in February of 1957. He received his basick training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Marvin was a member of the Air Police and was awarded Airman of the Month. When he transferred to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, Marvin had achieved the rank of A/2C. While in the Philippines, Marvin served with 6925 RSM for 19 months.

Just before his return to the United States, Marvin was promoted to A/1C. He took a post at Kincheine Air Force Base in Michigan, serving in the security section of the 3700th Air Defense Missle Squadron.

Marvin was the first recipient of the quarterly award of Missle Man of the Quarter. This award was based on outstanding performance of duty, military bearing, appearance, courtesy and character.

Marvin was discharged with the rank of A/C in October of 1961. He returned to Ringgold County and farmed near Diagonal.

Marvin's younger brother Larry WYER also served with the U.S. Air Force.
