Presents flag to former resident veteran

Friday, September 5, the residents of Madison Square Assisted Living in Winterset, IA were entertained by the local VFW Pot 8142 and the Auxiliary. The Flag Folding Ceremony was presented and Cecil Berry, Senior VC, narrated, explaining each fold and what each represents.

Dean Merrill was presented the flag on behalf of Madison Square Assisted Living. Merrill was a soldier who landed on Normandy Beach. The troops marched up to where Hitler was said to be, but by the time the troops arrived, Hitler had already killed his girlfriend and himself.

NOTE: Dean passed away on November 1, 2014.
