WILLIAM T. MARTIN

  William T. MARTIN, the son of Merryweather and Elizabeth MARTIN, was born circa 1837 in Indiana. The family, which included seven children, moved to Ringgold City, Iowa.

William and Clarissa SCHOOLER were married on July 10, 1860.

William and several other Ringgold County, Iowa men enlisted in Company I of the 23rd Missouri Infantry and fought for the Union during the Civil War. Private MARTIN died during the Civil War. His name is listed on the memorial plaque loctated on the first floor lobby of Ringgold County's courthouse.
