John Kenneth LEPLEY joined the U.S. Navy on January 20, 1943 while attending college. He was called to active service on July 1, 1943.

John completed service school at Columbia, New York, ATB at Little Creek, Virginia, and NTS at Hollywood, Florida.

John served on the ships, LSM 300, LSM (R) 520, and LSM (R) 526. He was commissioned December 1, 1944, and was released from active duty on August 1, 1946.
