CIVIL WAR VETERANS, DIAGONAL, IOWA

Mr. NORRIS served in the Civil War and resided in Diagonal.

  Isaac Arment TALLEY enlisted as a Private from Decatur County, Iowa, at the age of 25 on February 22, 1864, and served with Company M of the 3rd Iowa Cavalry. Pvt. TALLEY was mustered out of service on August 9, 1865, Atlanta, Georgia. He died on January 26, 1929, with interment at Bethel Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

James A. BUTT enlisted as a Private on August 29, 1862, serving with Company K of the 81st Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Pvt. BUTT was mustered out of service on June 13, 1865. He died on March 28, 1930, with interment at Centenary Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Simon JARVIS enlisted as a Private at the age of eighteen years on October 19, 1861, and served with Company H of the 63rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was promoted on January 1, 1864 to the rank of Full Corporal, on June 10, 1864 to Full Sergeant, and on March 24, 1865 to Full 1st Sergeant. Sgt. JARVIS was mustered out of service on July 8, 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky. He died in 1928 with interment at Diagonal Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
