G. B. HASKINS

G[eorge] B[ruce] HASKINS, farmer and stock-raiser, section twenty-four, post-office Conway, is a native of Ingham county, Michigan, born in 1840, and there grew to manhood, receiving a common school education. In 1859 he came to Iowa and stopped for a time near Agency; went from there to Pike's Peak, where he followed mining and prospecting. Returned to Iowa in 1861, engaged in farming and in 1863 returned to his native State. Three years later he again came to Iowa and located in Marion county; remained until 1868. He then moved to Ringgold county and improved a farm, on which he remained until 1877. He then came to Taylor county, and has since improved a farm of eighty acres. He was united in marriage with Miss Sylva C. ANDREWS, also a native of Michigan. They are the parents of eight children: Clara B. (wife of O. F. FATCH), Alva J., Chas. W., Elenora, Sarah L., Minnie V., Stella P. and Ira.

NOTE: George Bruce HASKINS was born in October, 1840, Alaiedon, Ingham County, Michigan, and died in 1912, Gravette, Benton County, Arkansas. He was interred in Hunter, Garfield County, Oklahoma. Sylvia C. (ANDREWS) HASKINS was born in July 1843, Carmel, Eaton County, Michigan, the daughter of Elias ANDREWS (1805-1871) and his first wife Louisa (JOHNSON) ANDREWS (1811-1855). George's parents were Ira L. HASKINS (born 13 Apr 1812, MA; died 26 Mar 1887, Grant Twp., Ringgold Co. IA) and Sarah (CALKINS) HASKINS (born 02 Aug 1816, NY; died 01 Sep 1907, Grant Twp., Ringgold Co. IA). Ira and Sarah were interred at Clearfield Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.

George Bruce and Sylvia C. (ANDREWS) HASKINS were the parents of nine children:

4) Emma Elnora "Nora" HASKINS
    born 22 Dec 1869, Mount Ayr, Ringgold Co. IA
    06 Jun 1960, Wellington, Sumner Co. KS
    married 02 Oct 1889, Mount Ayr IA Abraham MOON, born 1852, Canada; died Caldwell KS
