Council Bluffs Public Library
Moved to brand new library building about the year 2000.
This building is soon to become the Union Pacific Railroad Museum and is undergoing
renovation at this time (2002).

Iowa School for the Deaf
Established at Iowa City in 1855 ,but was later moved to Council Bluffs on a 90 acre tract
of land, located two miles south of Council Bluffs. In October 1870, the main building
and one wing were completed and occupied. In 1885 it was staffed with 15 teachers and
attended by 292 pupils.

Ohio. Sept 3rd 1913. Dear sister, we start for St. Joseph today. Will be home Sunday.
Pa is anxious for us to get back. He is homesick. Is at Bessies now. Will write you a
letter in a few days. Have something to tell you. We got a good shower yester-eve. Haven't
had breakfast yet. Hope you are well. Love to all, Orinda.
