Leonard Leroy Sharp, Sr

Leonard Leroy Sharp, Sr, 99, a gentle and humble man, peacefully passed away December 7, 2019. Leonard was born on November 23, 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa, the tenth and last child of William and Lucy Sharp. While he did not find a cure for any major illnesses or achieve world peace, he did set the example for his family for the love of God and country (US Army World War II veteran), honesty, kindness, hard work, support and love for one another. Four generations will fondly remember and miss this wonderful man; his son Bruce (wife Susan), daughter-in-law Kelly Sue Sharp, grandchildren Kelli Downing, Lori Fisher, Jeri Sharp, Matthew and Leonard L. Sharp, III, thirteen great grandchildren, nine great-great-grand-children, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, all nine siblings, his wife of 74 years, Winnifred L Sharp, and his eldest son, Leonard L Sharp, Jr. Visitation and Services will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, beginning at 10AM at Funeraria Del Angel Greer-Wilson Chapel, 5921 West Thomas Road, Pheonix, AZ. Graveside services and interment at West Resthaven Park Cemetary, 6450 West Northern AV, Glendale, AZ. following conclusion of services. A giant THANK YOU to Chinasa Asota, her family and staff for the love and care extended to Papa Leonard. Not all heroes wear capes. Rest In Peace, Papa.
