Hon. Theodore Guelich, of Burlington, was a Des Moines visitor yesterday.

Maj. E. F. Sperry, of Knoxville, was in the city between trains yesterday.

Superintendent J. B. Maxon, of the “Q”, was in Des Moines yesterday.

Mr. Chamberlain of the Northwestern, left yesterday for a short visit in Chicago.

The Misses George will entertain a few friends at their home, 729 West Sixth street, this evening.

The many Des Moines friends of Mr. Will Merritt will be pleased to learn that he is improving.

Dr. Stewart left yesterday for Council Bluffs, where he addressed the Iowa Synod last evening.

S. T. Walker, manager of the Council Bluffs Herald, was visiting with Des Moines friends yesterday.

Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Lacastershire, of Moline, who have been visiting in Des Moines, left yesterday for their home.

Col. Albert Winifield Swalm, of the Oskaloosa Herald, was in the city yesterday to view the Female Base Ball Game

Col. E. D. Fenn, of Nevada, was in the city yesterday, and was initiated as a member of Crocker Post G. A. R. last night.

Captain D. G. Rhodes resigned his position with the Diagonal yesterday, and will again resume his old business on West Walnut street.

Mayor Carey and brother, B. F. Carey, were at Grinnel to make it interesting for the Sons of Veterans who met there this week, and returned yesterday.

Mr. L. E. Royal and family of Rickville, Conn., arrived in this city yesterday, with the intention of making it their future home. Mr. Royal is a brother of Dr. Royal.

Charley Deane, proprietor of the Head House at Jefferson, one of the most popular and best kept hotels in Iowa, is spending a few days among his friends in Des Moines.

First social of Grace Methodist church will be held at corner Fifteenth and Crocker at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Wheeler tonight. An oyster supper will be given.

Invitations are out for the wedding of Miss Gertrude Ewing to Mr. Smith Wiley, to take place at the residence of the bride, 300 West Seventh street, Thursday evening, October 22nd.
