Although this website concerns genealogical research in Pocahontas County, Iowa, there are still a number of individuals who ask me for information about Pocahontas, the Native American after whom the county is named.

There is a wealth of information on-line about Pocahontas, and I am not going to post any biographical information about her on this site. This site is for genealogical research in Pocahontas County, Iowa.

There is a quite lengthy narrative about her in The Pioneer History of Pocahontas County, Iowa written by Robert E Flickinger, published 1904. (pages 113-124)

These links are fairly current. I'll try to keep an eye on them and keep them updated as necessary. These links are provided as a courtesy only, and neither the county coordinator, the USGenWeb or IAGenWeb are responsible for their content or accuracy.
