    George E Thompson was born June 22, 1826 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He is the son of George C and Elizabeth (nee Davis) Thompson. On May 5, 1853, he married Evaline Emma George. She was born near Jacksonville, Indiana County, Pennsylvania September 5, 1833. She died June 17, 1913. He died August 20, 1891. Their children are:
    • Cyrus S
    • Elizabeth Frances - who married James Albarnus Sayre on March 24, 1875. They located on a homestead in Buena Vista County, Iowa. He was born in 1852 died in Fonda on October 29, 1894. Their daughter Pearl married Evermond D Snyder of Des Moines on September 6, 1900. Elizabeth was also referred to as Fannie Sayre. They had one daughter Pearl who married E D Snyder. After James death they lived in Oklahoma.
    • George P - who was born March 29, 1883. He married Alice Bliss, daughter of George Bliss of Dover township. They later removed to Thayer County, Nebraska. They later lived in Clarksville, Iowa.
    • Harry C - was born September 29, 1889. He married Eugenia Gobelle who resided in Vermillion, South Dakota. Their son is Earl. Harry later lived in Lewistown, Montana.
    • James H - he married Lulu Spielman (Speilman) on December 22, 1898. They resided in Fonda. Their children were:
      • Fern - who married ? Abbott and lived in Newton, Iowa. Her sons were James and Robert
      • Eva - who married ? Disterhoft and lived in Meringo, Iowa
      • Wayne C - (also known as Tommy) who was at home at the time. He later married Nellie, and their son is Gordon.
    • John A - was married to Dora Sayre on August 26, 1896. They did have a child. They lived in Varina.
    • Mary - who wed Leslie Dean in 1887. Their daughter Daphne married Eugene Herrington in 1899 at later resided in Sioux City, Iowa. She later married Adolph Chan.

who was later Mrs James H Thompson.
    David Spielman was born in Baden, Germany on August 28, 1824. He came to America in 1848, to Sullivan County, New York. He married Dorothea Couch in December of 1851. In 1870 they homesteaded in section 24 of Cedar township, Pocahontas County, Iowa. Their children were:
    • David - who was born in 1851 and died in 1883. He married Mary Jane (nee Reed) Wilbur. Mary was formerly Mrs James M Wilbur and their son was Romero Wilbur, who later lived in Chicago. Romero Wilbur had an uncle named B F Osburn. David and Mary Jane had one son, Carl. Carl married Stella Reed in 1898. Stella is noted as being a native of Washington.
    • Jacob - was born on June 28, 1855 in New York. In 1889 he married Nora May Sheriff and their children were Flossie, Virgil, David and Esther.
    • Mary - who married R B Adams. Their children were Early, Hiram, Elizabeth and Maud.
    • Dora - who married Gustave Gottfried. Gustave H Gottfried was born in Prussia on August 24, 1843. He homesteaded in Cedar township in 1871. In 1847 he came to America with his parents and lived in Jefferson, Wisconsin. He was a popular assessor of Cedar township, serving from 1877-1878, 1883-1886, 1889-1890, 1895-1900. He also served on the school board, becoming president of the board in 1888. Their children are:
      • Ernest
      • Delphia Ava - who graduated from Fonda schools in 1899 and is a teacher
      • Frederick
    • Sophia - who married Louis Lieb. They had seven children: May, Adelbert, Louis, Florence, Vincennes, Frederick, Dorothea.
    • Frederick - was born August 22, 1864 in Iowa. He married Alta Hardy.
    • Elizabeth - who married William Wykoff and lived in Fonda. Their children are Roy, Madge, Harry and Vera.
    • Lulu - who married James H Thompson in 1898 and had a child.
The family of James Albarnus Sayre
who married Fannie (Elizabeth Frances) Thompson
    Mahlon Sayre was born in New Jersey in 1817. He was the eighth boy of a family of nine sons. He moved the Winnebago County, Illinois, and it was here that he married Lucinda Haven. He died in 1890 and his wife a few months previous. Their children were:
    • Elvira - who married William Gilson
    • James Albarnus - who married Fannie Thompson (Elizabeth Frances)
    • Albert - who was born in 1854. In 1872 he married Mary Burdick, daughter of Frank A Burkdick. Their children were Dora and Budd.
    • Melinda - who married Lewis K Johnson in 1867 while living in Illinois. They had three children, all of which lived in Idaho. In 1887 Melinda married Washington Snyder and in 1888, moved to Idaho. The children are:
      1. Jennie - who married Daniel Finnelson
      2. William - who married Daisy Ingram
      3. Lulu - who married Charles Irwin
    • Elnora - who married Eugene Evans
The Family of Louis Lieb
who was later married to Sophia Spielman
    In the early 1840's Jacob Lieb left Bavaria and came to America. While in Baltimore, Maryland about 1846 he married Louisa Dasenberg. She was a native of Hanover, Germany. While in Baltimore they had five children, three of which died young. Henry and Fred survived. In 1870 they were living in Dysersville, Iowa, and it was there in 1871, that Jacob Lieb died. Louisa died in 1881 (or 1882). Their children were:
    • Henry - was a druggist at Alton, Iowa.
    • Frederick - A year after his mothers death he married Louisa Lichtenburg, of Dubuque County. He located on a farm near Alton where he died in 1897, leaving seven children.
    • Mary Magdaline - in 1873 she married Louis Fuchs.
    • William C - who married Helen Halder on February 20, 1882 in Newell, Iowa. She was born in Wisconsin, the daughter of George and Teckla Halder. She was the youngest of six and was orphaned at age 11. She came to Newell to live with her older sister Josephine and her husband, John Heissel. Helen died on May 27, 1915. Mr Lieb died January 6, 1936. They had 13 children, one son dying at age 10 months:
      1. Louise - Joined the order of Franciscan Sisters and was known as Sister De Chantal
      2. Ida - was born July 2, 1884. She married Joseph Fitzgerald and lived in Pocahontas. Joseph was born March 15, 1885 in Dover township. His parents were Daniel and Margaret (nee Coleman) Fitzgerald. They were married September 11, 1907 in Pocahontas, Iowa. Their children were:
        • Erwin - who died in 1975

    • Joseph (may have also been called Cornelius) - Lived in Texas
    • Note: In the Flickinger "History of Pocahontas County, Iowa" 1904, on page 611 the biography mentions a Cornelius but no Joseph. In the 1981 History of Pocahontas County, Iowa, on page 501 the biography mentions a Joseph but no Cornelius.
