Memories of Lincoln No. 1 School

~Recalled by former student, Carl Jahn--sent in by his daughter Bonnie.

Carl recalls that school house was on a half a mile road, right across from Kowalke's house. Lawrence Welk used to perform there. Carl said some others did too but he can't remember the name of the group. He said that was around 1926 &1927. Carl said in the winter time it was a good place for entertainment. An Indian group of kids entertained there--the group was known as the Rosebud Kids (from the Rosebud Reservation.)

Carl also recalls Arnie Kowalke used to peek out the window & watch Gladys Seglen walk to school every day. Well he ended up marrying her. In retelling this story, Carl was amused. They used to tease Arnie.
