The first school that I attended was in the southwest corner of the section in which we lived [school No. 6 of Section 27 of Fredonia Township]. I can’t remember much about this school. There are just two things which I can recall. One is that I got hit on the nose with a baseball bat and that about ended my baseball career. The other is that I had a crush on one of the girls in one of the upper classes. I am sure she never knew anything about it.
