Nis Nielsen Reunion

The Danish descendents of Nis and Herlig Nielsen will gather at the Beck Park shelter house, Remsen, on July 9th for their 57th annual family reunion.  The 12:30 p.m. pot-luck dinner will be followed by a family meeting and group-singing. Hosts for the event are the Stan and Blanche Mohning family and the Russ and Marie Andersen family.
Nis Nielsen (born 1834) and Herlig Jespersen Lund Nielsen (born 1837) emigrated from Skrydstrup,  Denmark in 1883 and settled in Fredonia Township, Plymouth County with their four daughters (four other children having died in the homeland).  They were charter members of the Danish Lutheran Church built in 1898 in section 27 of Fredonia Township. The four main branches of the family include descendents of daughters Engeborg Nielsen Larson, Maren Nielsen Mortensen, Christine Nielsen Kloster and Anna Sophia Nielsen Kloster.  All family members and visitors are encouraged to attend.
