Looking for a descendant from the family of Mary Sorenson!

This old photo is marked on the back, "Mary Sorenson," and on the front it says LeMars, Iowa. I am not sure who this Mary is but there was a Niels and Hannah Sorenson with a daughter, Marie, and son, Martin, living in Washington Township of Plymouth County, Iowa in the 1900 census and that is where my Henry Alberto Smith family was living at the time. So I am wondering if she was a friend of the family?

~~This photo was submitted for posting on this website by Debra LaFontaine. Debra has donated the photo to the Plymouth County Historical Museum, June 2008. Can anyone identify this young lady and give us information regarding her family of Plymouth County, IA?

Meske, Langholz

*** FOUND....in an antique store in 2006...a very old family photo album that contains 12 photos from the late 1800's, early 1900's. Only a few of the pictures are identified with a name on the back. Most of the photos do have a studio name stamped on them. I have traced ONE of the photos. It is this darling little girl. The photo was taken in Oshkosh, Wis. The name penciled on the back of the cabinent card photo says, "Frances Meske." Frances name is linked to her posted obituary.

**UPDATE...in JULY 2006 a family descendant was found for these photos and the old album!! WHAT A GREAT SUCCESS STORY! The process is in place right now for the album and pictures to be mailed and reunited with the correct family!! That is what this is all about........thanks for the folks that made contacts and the correct family was located!!!

I have done some quick research and have found this little girl's family in Plymouth County, Iowa, in 1900, 1910, and the 1920 Federal Census. Frances Meske is one of the daughters of Rev. Fred A. Meske and his wife, Amelia. They lived in the Akron, Iowa, community. The old photo album is not in good shape, but the picutures are for the most part. Other places mentioned on the photos: Huron, S.D.; Dana, Ind.; South Paris, Me.; Matoon, Ill.; Warren, Pa.; Ft. Madison, Ia. One photo is of an elderly lady...this one was taken in Germany...the studio place says, "Falkenburg"...the rest is written in German.

UPDATE--I have found the obituary for Rev. F. A. Meske. See the link under his name. Two of his daughters married Rev. Langholz people. The 1930 Census indicates that Frances' sister, Amanda, was the wife of Rev. Arthur Langholz. So perhaps FRANCES is the sister married to Rev. John Langholz!!
