JOHN HECHT FAMILY   

John Hecht came to America from Luxemberg as a young man.  He married Anna Hoffman of Merrill on December 8, 1884, at Sioux City, Iowa.  They settled on a farm in Johnson township, which later was farmed by their grandson, Lawrence Hecht.

John Hecht was killed in a car-train accident in June, 1911.  Five children born to John and Anna were:  Mary, who resided in Merrill; Ann (deceased); Peter (deceased in 1948); Theodore (deceased in 1962); Theodore, who married Mary Wiltgen of LeMars, Iowa, on January 14, 1920, and they have one son, Harold of Merrill; Dennis married Violet Anderson of Merrill on February 8, 1934, and they have four children.
