Brought Here For Burial
The body of John Folken, who died at his home in Tea, S.D., was brought to Ireton for burial in the family lot beside his wife and son. The deceased was a resident of Ireton for many years, working at the trade of carpenter. Many of the homes built during his residence here were of his construction. He left Ireton more than thirty years ago.

John Folken, an old time resident of Ireton, died at his home at Tea, S.D., and the body was brought to Ireton Monday and buried in Pleasant Hill cemetery beside his wife and a son. The deceased lived here about thirty years ago when he plied his trade of carpenter, and aided in the construction of some of the first buildings in Ireton. His wife died about 30 years ago while they were residents here and the son was brought here for burial about two (sic twelve) years ago.

Many were the pained hearts in this community when the news was circulated of the death of Mrs. Foken (Fokken or Folken). She was a kind and loyal wife and loving mother. The deceased leaves a husband and six small children to mourn her loss.

IRETON: (From the Clipper.)
Mrs. Emelia Fokken, wife of John Fokken, departed this life Saturday, February 29, aged 38 years, 4 months, and 3 days. She leaves a husband and six children to mourn her departure. The funeral was held from the M.E. Church Monday afternoon. Rev. McCaffree preached the sermon, assisted by Revs. Gault and Potter.

NOTE: In 1892 a Mrs. Timmerman died who was the mother of Mrs. Fokken. In the 1895 census of Ireton John Fokken 42 born Germany, wife Amelia age 37 born Cedar County IA, children Sophia 8, Amelia 7, Dick 6, Ettie 5, Elizabeth 3.
