Isaac Barker & Anne Champeny Barker

Isaac Barker was born March 21, 1847, at Barton on Humber near Hull, England. He came to the United States in 1865, and farmed in Clinton County, Iowa. In 1885 he moved to Plymouth County, Iowa, and farmed in Section 9, Preston Township. He purchased the land from the railroad. He lived with the Frank VanBuskirk Sr. family until living quarters were built on his farm.

All the machinery Mr. Barker owned and farmed with in Clinton County was brought to Plymouth County by railroad, so he could begin farming here.

On June 13, 1888, he married Anne Champeny. she was born in Somersetshire, England, and came to the United States when she was two years old. Her family lived in Wisconsin, then moved to Cherokee, Iowa, and then to Plymouth County.

Isaac and Anne were the parents of six children. Isaac Barker passed away in December 21, 1929, at the age of 82 years. Anne Barker passed away June 14, 1938, at the age of 72 years.
