Otto, son of Carl & Caroline Rurode, was born on his parent's farm in Nodaway Twp., Page Co., Iowa, on September 4, 1900. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church on September 23, 1900 with his baptizmal sponsors being Christian Soloman & Johann Wagoner. He attended a nearby Center public school until he attended Immanuel Lutheran parochial school prior to confirmation. Otto married Alice Peterson in Woonsocket, South Dakota. They farmed near her parents until their daughter married. They then moved to the Peterson farm at which time the daughter and son-in-law lived on their original place. He was a quiet, pleasant man, close to the mother of the writer. [written July 4, 2006] |
