Monona County Contributes Large Force of Men to the Armed Forces of the U.S.

Monona County has contributed nearly 100 men to the armed forces of the United States, in addition to those who have enlisted since Registration day and those who have been inducted through the Selective Service act, according to information compiled this week by Carl Nielsen of Onawa, chief clerk of the Monona County draft board, at the special request of the Mapleton Press for the benefit of its many readers.

Chief Clerk Nielsen compiled three lists of names ñ men in the service prior to registration, enlistments of registrants after registration and all inducted men to date. He announced that there are a number of men from Monona County in the service that the board does not have any record of because the ìhome addressî report has not been received by the Draft board.

Herewith are the three lists of men, as compiled by Clerk Nielsen:

IN SERVICE PRIOR TO REGISTRATION
