CHARLES RICE GIVEN
        THE DISTINGUISHED
                FLYING CROSS

Sgt. Charles Rice, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Rice, has been awared the distinguished flying cross, and the announcement came this morning over a radio broadcast.

Sergeant Rice was given the decoration for completing fifty flying missions over enemy territory. He is a radio man aboard a big flying transport and his base is in New Guinea. Before that he was stationed in Australia.

He had earned the right to wear the cross April 15, but was not given it until a special ceremony was held. Osagers are more than proud of Charles.

The Rices have two sons in the service. Sgt. John Rice has completed his training as an aerial gunner, and is now at New Orleans, La., and expects to be sent across at any time.
