One of the surprises of the season was sprung last week by Clarence Savre and Opal Perrin. They slipped away last Wednesday, were quietly married at Mason City, returned here for a day or two, then went to Minneapolis to enjoy their honeymoon.

The surprise was so complete that details are quite lacking, and probably will be until the couple's return.

Clarence is a younger brother of the Dr. Savre, and has worked in the post office for nearly thirteen years, a steady efficient clerk. His bride is a professional nurse and has worked in this vicinity for a number of years.

MABLE WEINBERGER BECAME BRIDE OF JOSEPH ROGERS TUESDAY

A pretty wedding took place at 8:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Sacred Heart Church, when Miss Mabel Weinberger was united in marriage with Joseph Rogers. The couple was attended by Miss Bernice Gilles and Louie Weinberger. Rev. J. Martin officiated.

Following the ceremony a wedding reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Weinberger. She is a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, of New Haven, and was a teacher.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Rogers, of Cedar township. The young people will be [living on a farm] four miles west and two miles south of Osage.

Mr. and Mrs. Norman Troge of St. Ansgar, and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Mauser of Osage announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Julie and David.

Julie is a 1981 graduate of St. Ansgar High School and is employed at Cargill, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minn.

David is a 1979 graduate of Osage High School and is currently a student at the Univ. of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

A ____ wedding is planned at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar.

Sunday, June 29th

One of the prettiest home weddings of the month was that of Miss Elsie Naomi Taylor and George Butler Fuller, held at the home of the bride's parents, June 29, 1924. The service was performed by Rev. A. Cross in the presence of only the immediate relatives of the bride and bridegroom.

Little Luella Fish, niece of the bride, was flower girl and ring bearer. After the ceremony a three-course dinner was served the guests.

Mrs. Fuller is a daughter of the H. B. Taylors, and moved with her parents to Osage about twelve years ago. She has been employed at the Gardner nursery offices. Mr. Fuller is a son of Mrs. H.E. Fuller, with whom he has made his home during the past two years. Prior to that time he served five years with the marines.

Mr. and Mrs. Fuller will continue to make Osage their home.

BRIDE OF HERBERT JOHNSON, WED'Y

A pretty June wedding was that of Miss Frances A. Schmidt and Herbert J. Johnson, who were united in marriage last Wednesday evening, June 25, at 8:30 o'clock, at the bride's home in the presence of about fifty guests. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Hankammer, former pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church of Tripoli.

The wedding march from Lohengrin was placed by Miss Cordelia Ahrens. . .

The bride is the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Schmidt, a graduate of the Mitchell high school and the Cedar Valley seminary. For the last six years she has been one of our efficient teachers in the rural schools of this county.

The bridegroom is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Johnson, and a very industrious young farmer, worthy of the young woman he has chosen as his mate.

Miss Ina Connor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Connor, was married Monday afternoon to Earnie Blunt. The ceremony was performed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bartlett, at Cedar Rapids, and the couple left from that point for a short trip.

Neither Mr. nor Mrs. Blunt need a description of length to Osage people. Mrs. Blunt has lived here practically all of her life, and is liked and respected by a wide circle of friends. Her husband is a brother of Mrs. G. E. Genung, and is very widely known.

The plan to reside with Mrs. Blunt's parents, who are in feeble health, for the present at least.

MILDRED OVERCAMP
AND JERRY RHYAN

Miss Mildred Overcamp, youngest daughter of the William Overcamps, was united in marriage to Jerry Rhyan, at the Sacred Heart church Thursday morning, Thanksgiving day, at 8:30 o'clock.

They were attended by Mrs. Nell Hardy, a close friend of the bride, and by the latter's cousin, Edward Overcamp, of Grand Meadow, Minnesota.

Following the service a three-course dinner was served at the Overcamp home to the close relatives and friends of the couple. Decorations were in yellow and white, with yellow roses.

Mr. and Mrs. Rhyan visited with Osage relatives and friends until Sunday, when they left for Lincoln, Nebraska, where they will make their home with the former's mother for the winter.

Mrs. Rhyan is one of the city's most esteemed young women. Since leaving school she has been employed at the Delta company offices. Jerry is well known to people in this locality, as he has played piano with carious dance orchestras for a number of years. he first came to Osage to become a member of the famous Kelley orchestra, and his last engagement here was with Hurst's organization. He has accepted a position at Lincoln for the winter.

MARRIED TUESDAY

Miss Florence Jacobson and Wilbur Weed were married by the Rev. J.I. Walker at the Congre-gational parsonage Tuesday afternoon, September 28, 1924, at 2:30 o'clock.

Mrs. Weed is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Jacobson, and for the past few months have been assisting at the Cleveland hotel. Her husband is a son of the Orlando Weeds, and is employed at the nursery.

Mr. and Mrs. Weed have rented rooms in the residence formerly owned by the C.F. Gardners...

Miss Gladys Mericle, daughter of Mrs. Edith Mericle, was united in marriage with Harold Runkle, of Little Cedar, on Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock at the Baptist parsonage. The bridal couple were attended by their brothers, Sam Mericle and George Runkle.

Mrs. Runkle is a pleasing young lady and has since leaving school, been employed at the Gardner Nursery. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Runkle, old residents of the Little Cedar vicinity.

The newlyweds are at present enjoying a trip through Illinois and Wisconsin, accompanied by the bridegroom's mother, and her sister, Mrs. Avis McNulty.

Miss Effie Irene Schoger and Alvin A. McKee were married this afternoon at the Lutheran parsonage by the bride's pastor, the Rev. O. C. Myhre. They were accompanied by a brother and sister.

Mrs. McKee is a daughter of the C. E. Schogers, and was brought up in Rock Creek township. her husband has a farm near Rock Falls, and they will be at home there.

Miss Ruth Tucker, daughter of Will Tucker, former Osage man, was married on the 23rd day of November to Ralph G. Dawson, of Beloit, Wisconsin.

Ruth attended school in Osage, so has a great many friends who will wish her joy and happiness. She moved from here with her parents to Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, five years ago. For the past two and a half years she has been in the employment of the Western Union Telegraph company at Chicago.

Mr. Dawson has been with the Fairbanks Morse company since finishing school.

They are now located in Omaha, Nebraska, where they will be glad to meet their many friends.

One of the earliest of the June brides is Miss Agnes Monoghan, who was married to Daniel J. Monen on June 2, at the Sacred Heart church at 8 o'clock. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J.P. Martin. . .

The bride is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Monoghan, is a graduate of the Osage high school, and has completed a course at the American conservatory at Chicago, later spending two years at Iowa State University.

Mr. Monen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Monen, of Charles City, and is a graduate of the Immaculate Conception academy at that place, also of the law school of Creighton University of Omaha, where he is now attorney for the Omaha Trust company. . . .

Florentine Gustafson, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gustafson, was married on February 20, 1924, at Kennebec, South Dakota, where Florentine has been located for several years. He is well and favorably known to Osage people, is a graduate of the local high school, and considered a promising young fellow.

The Kennebec paper has the following to say concerning the event: "A pretty romance came to climax this morning when Miss Leila Hurni became the bride of Florentine Carl Gustafson, of Osage, Iowa. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Hurni of this city, and has been a resident of Lyman county for about the last five years. The ceremony took place at the Catholic parsonage with Rev. Father Sampson officiating.

"After the ceremony a five-course wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride with only the immediate members of the family present. The happy couple departed immediately on a trip through the eastern states. They will be at home to their friends on the Hurni ranch, near Chamberlain, after April 1st. The Argus-Leader, with a host of friends, joins in extending congratulations."

Ralph McIlnay, eldest son of James McIlnay, and a nephew of B.K. McIlnay, was united in marriage Sunday to Miss Vera Buck.

The bride formerly lived near Brownville, but has spent the past couple of years with her folks in Wisconsin. Mr. McIlnay is an industrious young farmer, and he and his bride will be at home on the Morrissey farm.

Miss Mary Arickx, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Arickx of Mitchell, became the bride of Russel Michels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Michels of new Haven. Thursday morning, November 15, at the Sacred Heart church, the Rev. E. A. Fitzgerald officiating.

The bridegroom was attended by Dean Michels and Duane Brunner both of New Haven. . .

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the parental Arickx home in Mitchell. The couple left for a short honeymoon.

The bride is a graduate of Mitchell high school and since that time has been employed at Hormel's plant in Austin.

The bridegroom is a graduate of New Haven high school. He was discharged from the armed forces in June 1945, after being in service four years. He served overseas for three years in Italy and Africa as a crew chief in the Army Air Corps. He is now employed at Usem's Garage at Austin.

The couple will be at home at 305 Hickory, in Austin, Minnesota.

Janice Miller of Dubuque, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Miller of St. Ansgar, was honored at a bridal shower on Sunday afternoon at the R.E.C. meeting rooms in St. Ansgar.

Mrs. Lloyd Kroneman was mistress of ceremonies. Mrs. Alvin Frank offered readings and Mrs. Clarence Wilde presented several piano selections.

Assisting Miss Miller in opening her gifts were her sister, Mrs. Richard Nelson of Mason City and Pat Reinartz of Austin. Brenda Wilde, Jeanne Wilde and Kathy Kroneman carried the gifts.

Hostesses were Mrs. Harold Tabbert, Mrs. Justin Ones, Mrs. Clarence Wilde, Mrs. Alvin Kroneman, Mrs. George Kroneman, Mrs. Lloyd Kroneman and Barbara, Mrs. Gerald Hanson, Mrs. Rueben Kroneman, Mrs. Paul Hartwig, Mrs. Alvin Frank and Mrs. Marion Neeley.

Janice Miller and Duane Amunson of Woodward will be married at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, on May 25, 1969.

SIX MILE GROVE CHURCH SCENE OF MARLENE BAHR, HOWARD FOX WEDDING

In a double ring ceremony March 31, 1963, Marlene K. Bahr, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alivie Bahr of rural Mona, became the bride of Howard W. Fox, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fox of St. Ansgar. Rev. S. Klemesrud, church pastor, was in charge of the ceremony at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church.

Nuptial Music was provided by Mrs. Ervin Helgeson, who accompanied Frederick Langrock as he sang "Because" and "Wedding Prayer." . . .

The bride's sister. Mrs. Allen Hofland of St. Ansgar, was matron of honor, Robert Brusewitz of St. Ansgar served as best man.

Ringbearer was Donald Hofland, nephew of the bride, and flower girl was the bride's sister, Mary Ellen Bahr. Ushers were Dallas Bahr, brother of the bride, and Donald Francis of St. Ansgar.

A reception was held in the church parlors. Mrs. Kermit Askland was hostess and Mrs. Newell Nelson was in charge of decorations. Registering the guests was Nancy Tesch. Gifts were displayed by Sonja Kline and Sandra Stromley. The bride's aunt, Mrs. Floyd Skow, was at the coffee service and Mrs. Dallas bahr and Mrs. Joe Slaichert cut and served the wedding cake. Serving were Janet Kline and Marcia Loescher.

The bridegroom is a graduate of the St. Ansgar high school and is employed at St. Ansgar Mills. The couple will reside in St. Ansgar.

Mr. and Mrs. John (Dick) Voight of Mitchell will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, April 5, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Hosts will be their children.

John Voight and Frances Low were married April 6, 1947 in Osage.

Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Neis, Osage, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Sunday. They will begin with a Mass of Thanksgiving at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11 a.m. followed by dinner at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 12:30 p.m. for relatives and invited guests. There will be an open house at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 2 to 4 p.m. for all friends and relatives.

The honorees are parents of 10 children, one of whom, Robert, is deceased. Celebrating with them will be their daughters: Mrs. Herbert (Angela) Brumm, Stacyville; Mrs. Frank (Frances) Hoffman, Los Angeles; Mrs. Edward (Agnes) Brumm, South Gate, California; Mrs. Lloyd (Adelaide) Counsell, Nora Springs; Mrs. Ralph (Rose Ann) McDowell, Rudd; Mrs. Richard (Betty Jane) Conger, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Andrew (Arlene) Anderson, Pheonix, their two sons, William, Osage, and Joseph, Minneapolis, and their families. There are 33 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A family dinner will follow, and an open house is planned from 2 to 4 p.m. at the church hall. Hosts for the courtesy will be their children: Mr. and Mrs. William (Irene) Neis of Osage, John Sylvan of Mona, Mrs. Lawrence (Margaret) Hucmann, Marvin of Waterloo, and Mrs. Darwin (Marlene) Mauer of Denver.

Mabel Winer and Mr. Faas were married Jan. 27, 1926, at Stacyville. There are 35 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

NANCY TESCH BECOMES BRIDE OF JAMES BELL AT TOETERVILLE CHURCH

Nancy Tesch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Tesch and James Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bell of St. Ansgar, were united in marriage Saturday afternoon, June 1, 1963, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Toeterville.

Rev. W. Kamke performed the formal, doublering ceremony in front of an altar decorated with garden flowers. Luann Duenow sang "The Wedding Prayer."

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white nylon chiffon gown with lace bodice, and nylon veil. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white carnations.

Kathleen Tesch of St. Ansgar, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Brian Halverson was ring bearer and Lori Tesch was flower girl. Russell Bell, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Harlan Bell, brother of the bridegroom and Ronald Carter, cousin of the bride.

A reception was held at the bride's home following the ceremony. Nyla Murphy was in charge of the guest book and Judy Noble took care of the gifts. Mrs. Otto H. Tesch was at the coffee service. Mrs. William Duenow cut the cake.

After a short trip to northern Minnesota the couple will be at home in St. Ansgar where the bridegroom is employed in the construction of the Methodist hall.

Miss Mavis Hamrick, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Hamrick of Spencer, and Arthur Krukow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Krukow of Terril, were married on Thursday, April 19, in a single ring ceremony performed by Rev, Fritchel at 3 o'clock at Jackson, Minnesota.

Attending the couple, were Miss Ruth Hamrick of Spencer and Pfc. Orville Krukow, brother of the groom. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hamrick of Spencer were also present.

A pale green street length, frock was worn by the bride. The dress had black accessories, and the bride had a corsage of carnations. Ruth Hamrick, the bride's attendant, also wore a light green frock. The groom wore a dark blue business suit, and P.F.C. Krukow wore his army uniform

The newly-weds are living on a farm near Terril. The bride attended school in Gillett Grove and Spencer, and was employed; at Carroll's bakery until her marriage.

Miss Alberta Mae Borchardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Borchardt of Plymouth, became the bride of Alvin Sprung, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Sprung, route 1, Osage, in the Grafton Lutheran Church October 15, the Rev. S. M. Becker officiating.

Miss Vera Borchardt acted as her sister's maid of Honor and Miss Marla Sprung, sister of the bridegroom was bridesmaid.

The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Kenneth Sprung of Owatonna, Minnesota, and Richard Borchardt, brother of the bride.

The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents following the ceremony for about 50 relatives and friends of the couple. Dinner was prepared by the Misses Emma and Reka Bartz of St. Ansgar, great-aunts of the bride, who have prepared the wedding dinner for three generations of brides.

The bride is a graduate of Rock Falls High School and the Hamilton School of Commerce and is employed by the Standard Oil Company of Mason City. The bridegroom, a graduate of Plymouth High School, is farming with his father.

Audrey Anita Newhouse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mayo Newhouse of McIntire, and Ronald Oulman, son of Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Oulman of McIntire, exchanged nuptial vows December 24, 1948, in a candlelight ceremony performed at the McIntire Methodist Church. Rev. P. Brown, pastor, read the double ring ceremony.

Evelyn M. Greenlee of Osage, Iowa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Greenlee of Shell Rock, became the bride of Kirk Bartlett, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Bartlett of White River, South Dakota, on Monday, December 27, 1948, at the home of her parents. Rev. B. Wright read the candlelight service.

Phyllis Greenlee of Shell Rock, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid and W.P. Waddell of Shell Rock was best man. . . .

Mrs. Bartlett graduated from the Shell Rock high school and was a rural instructor for a year. The past year and a half she has been assistant at the Mitchell County Farm Bureau office.

Mr. Bartlett is a rancher near White River, South Dakota, and has been assisting Herb Trout for some time.

Virginia Parr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I.E. Parr of Osage, became the bride of Emil Tonn of Jerico, the son of Mrs. P. Tonn of Riceville, Sunday, April 17, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. Tev. F. Hanscomb read the single ring ceremony.

Bette Parr of Osage, sister of the bride, was brisdemaid. Edward Tonn of Waterloo, twin brother of the groom, was best man.

A reception was held that evening in the Parr home, and the couple left for a two-weeks' trip to Texas.

Mrs. Tonn graduated from the Osage high school and has been employed at the Marr Knitting Mill in Osage. Mr. Tonn graduated from the Riceville high school and was in the army in the South Pacific for over four years. He is now a tavern owner and operator at Jerico, where the couple will make their home.

BARBARA BURTSCH IS BRIDE
OF JOHN B. OXENFORD

Barbara R. Burtch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Burtch of Osage, became the bride of John B. Oxenford of Ames, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Oxenford of Boone, Saturday evening, April 16, at the First Baptist Church in Osage. Rev.O. Mellquist read the double ring ceremony.

Miss. Jennie Forward of Edgewood played a prelude of nuptial music and accompanied Miss Marilee Oxenford of Boone, who sang several numbers. Peggy Oxenford lighted the candles.

The bride was given by her father. Miss Elizabeth Burtch of Ames was maid of honor and Mrs. Robert Anderson of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., and Miss Wilma Funkhouser of Ames were bridesmaids. Mary Ann Decklever of Osage was flower girl.

Kenneth Oxenford of Boone, brother of the bridegroom was best man. (truncated)

PAUL KLARS HONORED
ON 55TH ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Klar of Charles City observed their 55th wedding anniversary Friday evening, March 11, 1949, with a reception for close relatives at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Morse in Charles City. Five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Klar celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary here in Osage, but moved to Charles City two years ago to live with their daughter and husband.

Katherine Walters and Paul Klar were married at Dysart, Iowa, on March 11, 1984, and continued to live there for 18 years. Then they moved to a farm east of Osage, where they were 10 years before moving to Osage, where they lived in the same home for 25 years.

They are the parents of four children, Mr. Robert Bower of Mitchell, Martin Klar of Osage, John Klar of Springfield, Oregon, and Mrs. Lynn Morse of Charles City. There are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

EXCHANGED MARCH 15

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hinich of Mason City, Iowa, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Nancy Ann, to Raymond Walters, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Walters of Osage. The wedding took place at the Little Brown Church at Nashua on March 15, 1949.

The bride wore a beige suit with pink accessories and a corsage of pink shaded roses and white carnations.

Mrs. Walters attended the Mason City high school and Mrs. Walters attended the Osage high school. The couple will live in Osage where he is employed at the Osage Oil Company.
