The Colby-Woodley Wedding

Married at the home of the bride's parents in Otranto, June 12, 1900, by Rev. D. W. Cram, Albert Colby and Charlotte Woodley. At noon, in response to Lohengrin's bridal chorus, sung by the Ewertsen quartetee, the bride and groom entered. The bride wore a pretty costume of white, and carried a bouquet of roses. She was attended by little Lottie Nash, there being no bridesmaid. The ceremony was performed beneath a beautiful floral arch. The sides of the room were decorated with bows and sprays of roses.

After congratulations were passed, the guests were served an elaborate dinner on the lawn, about 150 being seated. In the evening some of the younger people enjoyed some hours of dancing.

The happy couple were the recipients of many handsome and costly presents, proof of the high favor in which they are held.

They will go to housekeeping soon at Charles City, Iowa, where Mr. Colby has been engaged in the barber business for two years.

The bride has always lived in and near Otranto, and has occupied a prominent place in the social circles of the village. She has a warm spot in the hearts of all, not only because of her joyous and sunny nature, but also on account of the constantly recurring evidences of the true woman. She will be missed from our midst.

The groom formerly lived at Austin, Minnesota. For three years he was at Lyle and has many friends there. At his present home he is esteemed as an industrious and steady young man and a man among men.

That the happiness they both deserve so much shall attend them through life, and that the cares of earth may rest lightly upon them is the sincere wish of their host of friends.

Marriage of Miss Marie and Frank O'Meara

We were much surprised to hear of the marriage of Miss Marie and Frank O'Meara of St. James, Minnesota, at St. Paul Saturday August 4th. The bride is one of our most beautiful and accomplished young ladies and is well known in musical circles throughout the country for her fine contralto voice which has won for her the name "Sweet singer of Otranto."

She grew to womanhood in our midst and from early childhood gave promise of unusual musical ability. She taught several years in our public schools which position she resigned to take voice culture at the New England Conservatory, Boston, Mass.

The groom is a stranger to most of us but we feel sure he must be a worthy young man to win the affections of so pure and noble a girl. The gift of the groom to his bride was the deed of a fine residence near the new Capitol, St. Paul, valued at $50,000, where we learn they will make their future home. Their many friends at Otranto wish them a long and happy life.

Music, games and a mock wedding furnished amusement for the evening. The bride wore a rose color gingham dress, a Nottingham lace curtain veil and carried a large rose, made of a breakfast cap and rolled in a newspaper. The groom wore a blue shirt and overalls. Leon Linda was the promising young clergyman who pronounced them again man and wife. After congratulating them he presented them with a purse. The bride and groom were liberally showered with rice. A delightful luncheon was served at the close of the evening.
