Mary Ann Denekas of Osage, Iowa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Denekas of Blairsburg, Iowa, and Robert Kasel of Osage, on of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kasel of Osage, were united in marriage Saturday, May __ 1986 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. Father L. Connolly officiated.

The bride is a graduate of Northeast Hamilton Community School and Hamilton Business College in Mason City, Iowa. She is employed at the Maple Manor in Osage.

The groom is a graduate of Osage High School and is emplyed at Winnegago Industries in Forest City, Iowa.

Catherine Blaser and
Robert Wayne Simonson


Miss Catherine Blaser became the bride of Robert Wayne Simonson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on Saturday, May 17, 1986. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Blaser of Stacyville. The groom's parents are Mrs. Esther Simonson and the late Mr. Melvin Simonson of Manitoba, Canada.

The morning ceremony was officated by Rev. Wedeking. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Sheila Blaser, sister of the bride was maid of honor. Bridesmaid was Lisa Blaser, also a sister of the bride.

Trevor and Tim Simonson, sons of the groom were bestmen.

Following the ceremony an outdoor reception was held at the Kenneth Blaser home. The wedding was international, as guests came from Iowa, Minnesota, Colorado, Manitoba and Alberta, Canada.

The bride is a 1970 graduate of Osage Community High School and Mankato Commercial College. She is presently employed by Veritas Geophysical, Inc. of Denver, Colorado.

The groom is a graduate of St. Paul's Collegiate, in Elie, Manitoba.

He is employed by Geophysical Exploration in Alberta.

The couple will reside in Alberta, Canada.

Pauline and Frank Thurow


Frank and Pauline Thurow of Osage, Iowa, celebrated their Golden Anniversary the weekend of June 21 and 22 with a family reunion picnic and celebration dinner.

The dinner was held on Saturday, June 21, 1986 at the VFW Hall. Guests were from Osage and surrounding area, other cities in Iowa and California, Colorado, Alabama, Indiana, Oklahoma, Minnesota, North Dakota and Virginia.

Sharing in the celebration were their two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Corlene) Higlay of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Judy Thurow of Denver, Colorado.

The family reunion picnic was held on Sunday, June 22 at the original Thurow family farm, five miles southwest of Charles City. This farm was purchased from the government in 1863 and is still in the family.

Mr. and Mrs. Thurow were married in Charles City on January 12, 1936 and have been in the automobile business and lived in Osage since 1936.

The children of Leslie and Margaret Miller invite you to celebrate with them the 25th wedding anniversary of their parents. The couple's children, Keith, Brenda, Lorie and Craig will host the event. An open house will be held Sunday, August 24 from 2 to 5 p.m. at their farm home at Elma, Iowa.

Miss Margaret L. Troge and Leslie Miller were married on Sunday evening, September 3, 1961 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Osage, Iowa.

Nancy and Bob Sheldon
50th Anniv.


Bob and Nancy Sheldon of Santa Maria, California, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a dinner party held at the home of Mary Margaret Quijada of Santa Maria.

The Sheldon's were married on July 11, 1936 in Osage, Iowa. They lived in Santa Maria for the last eight years where they are owners of the American Bakery.

Attending the anniversary party were their son, Jim Sheldon and grandchildren, Teri, Kim and Geoff, all of Santa Maria, as well as many friends. Unable to attend was Albert's brother, Eugene Sheldon of Clinton, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon grew up in Osage and graduated from Osage High School. Mr. Sheldon is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs Walter E. Sheldon.

Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Hemann of Riceville will observe their 40th wedding anniversary on Saturday, October 4, 1986 with a family supper at 6 p.m. at the KC Hall in Osage. A dance from 8 to 12 with music provided by Tim's Polka Band will follow. All relatives and friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend and dance.

The event is being hosted by their children: Mr. and Mrs. David Hemann of Greenwood, Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Jon (Rita) Hiler of LeRoy, Minnesota, and Mr. and Mrs. Cyril (Ruth) Wilberding of Riceville. The couple has six grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Mueller, who were married on January 30, 1946, were belatedly honored on their 40th wedding anniversary with a dinner at the Waterfront in Clear Lake, and dancing at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake on Saturday, June 21, 1986. Their children and spouses hosted the event; Robert and Cheryl Mueller, Janet and Michael Pickar, and Richard and Luella Mueller.

Joan Kloberdanz, daughter of Joe and Colleen Kloberdanz of Osage, Iowa, and Dave Hoaglund, son of Phyllis and Dale Franken of Odebolt, Iowa, were married on Saturday, June 21, 1986 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.

Father L. Connolly officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Kevin Kloberdanz of Des Moines, was lector.

A dinner reception was held at the Choo Chew Restaurant in Charles City.

Joan was employed at Manilla Community School as a kindergarten teacher previous to her marriage. Dave is employed by Farmer's Home Assoc. in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple spent a honeymoon trip to the Four Season's Lodge in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. They will reside in Sioux City, Iowa.

Betty Jean Mayer, daughter of Urban and Ruth Mayer of Stacyville, Iowa, and Alan James Hackenmiller, son of Rudy and Marcella Hackenmiller of Stacyville, were married on Saturday, May 24, 1986 in an afternoon ceremony at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. Father C. Manternach officiated.

Mary Hackenmiller, sister of the groom was organist, and accompanied Marilyn Coonradt, sister of the groom, and Amy Hackenmiller, a friend of the couple were soloists. Lector was Mary Ann Hackenmiller, sister-in-law of the groom.

Bridesmaids were ___ Hemann, sister of the bride, Doris Hackenmiller, sister of the groom, and Nancy Weber, cousin of the bride. The bride's personal attendants were Chris Mayer, sister-in-law of the bride, and Karen Wagner, friend of the couple.

The groom's brother, Frank Hackenmiller, served as best man. Groomsmen were Chuck Hackenmiller, brother of the groom, Rick Mayer, brother of the bride and Les Hardy, friend of the couple.

The bride is a graduate of St. Ansgar High School and Rochester Area Vocational School. She is employed as a medical secretary at Osage Medical Group in Osage.

The groom is a graduate of St. Ansgar High School, and is employed by Wallace Computer Services Inc., in Osage.

The couple will make their home in Stacyville.

Mari Rosenberg, daughter of Betty and Gene Rosenberg of rural St. Ansgar, and Michael Momberg, son of Floyd and Joanna (?) Momberg of Upland, California, were married on Saturday, June 14, 1986 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton, Iowa. Rev. J. Fladland officiated.

Sherri Hughes, sister of the bride was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Michele Blasimom sister if the grooom, Vickie (?) Nelson, friend of the bride, and Lisa (?) Urbatch, cousin of the bride. Jayna Heman, friend of the bride and groom, was flower girl. Matt Momberg, brother of the groom, was best man.

The couple will be making their home in Mason City.

A reception was held at the V.F.W. in Osage. The bride is a graduate of Osage High School and is employed by Fox River Mills in Osage. The groom is a St. Ansgar High School graduate and is employed by Hormels in Austin.

Carol Betts, daughter of George and Mildred Betts of rural Osage, Iowa, and Robert Mack, son of Madaline and Harry Mack of rural Osage, were united in marriage on Saturday, June 14, 1986 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. Rev. L. Connolly officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Groomsmen included Mike Betts, brother of the bride. Paul Betts and Dean Betts, both brothers of the bride, seated guests.

A reception was held at the Conservation Club in Osage, hosted by Phil and Faith Betts, aunt and uncle of the bride.

The couple spent a week honeymoon trip to South Dakota and are presently residing at rural Osage.

Charles City, Iowa - In a candlelight ceremony last Monday, Miss Marcele Leach, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Leach, Floyd, became the bride of Edward Allen, Orchard, son of Mrs. Lyle Medlin, Mason City. Rev. Donald Bourne read the single ring service in the Congregational church at Osage.

ANDREW GEMAEHLICHS TO NOTE
65TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gemaehlich of Osage will be observing their 65th wedding anniversary on february 7, 1980. No celebration is planned due to Mrs. Gemaehlich recuperating from a fall in December, resulting in a broken hip.

Edith Behrendts and Andrew Gemaehlich were married in Nebraska on February 7, 1915. Osage his been their home for 51 years. Mr. Gemaehlich was a carpenter here until his retirement. He was active in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and superintendent. Mrs. Gemaehlich was also active in the church and Ladies Aid, serving as president of the latter for a period.

The Gemaehlich family includes five daughters and one son" Mrs. Erma Nosser of Fort Bragg, Calif, who is assisting in the care of her mother at the time being; mrs. Arnold Semm (Roberta) of Antioch, Calif.; Mrs. Margaret Meyer of Fort Bragg; Mrs. Harley May (Victoria) of Beloit, Wisconsin; Mrs. Dean Adams (Loella) of Franklin, Wisconsin; and Duane Gemaehlich of La Grande, Oregon. They also have 22 grandchidlren and 24 great grandchildren.

Wendy Lee Hook and John Wayne Hollingsworth of Mason City were married on April 5, 1980, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with Rev. N. Betke officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hook of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and the groom is the son of Mrs. Versa Hollingsworth of Princeton, Indiana.

The bride's sister, Mrs. Terry Brown of Carpenter was matron of honor, Scott Hook, nephew of the bride was ringbearer, and her niece, Sarah Brown, was the flower girl. Brian Hook, brother of the bride was candlelighter.

The couple left for Phoenix, Arizona, where they will be making their home.

The bride is a graduate of St. Ansgar high school, and was employed with Drs. Hagedorn and ahrens Animal hospital in Mason City. The groom is a graduate of the Mason City high school.

The sixieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dodge of rural Orchard will be celebrated at an open house for relatives and friends Sunday, January 27th, at the Osage Senior Citizen center.

Hosts for the event will be the couple's children and their spouses: Mr. and Mrs. Corwin Dodge of Osage, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Dodge of Rochester, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn (Jean) Wetherell of Orchard. The family also includes 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pauline Armstrong and Ralph Dodge were united in marriage on January 28, 1920, at the home of the bride's parents near Orchard. They have resided all their married life in the Orchard and Osage area.

The family includes one daughter, Karen, Mrs. Jim Gray of Spring Grove, Minnesota; two sons, Tom of Riceville and Dennis in Illinois; and several grandchildren.

They have resided in New Haven since their marriage and are the parents of nine children: Mike of Jasper, Indiana, Frank of Osage, Ken, deceased, Terry Newton of Stacyville, Ellen Vogel of Scottsdale, Arizona, Hank of Burnsville, Minnesota, Mary of Primghar, Becky of Fort Dodge, and Tony of New Haven.

The children of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Smalley hosted a dinner on Sunday, June 21, 1987, at the Cedar Valley Supper Club in honor of their parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

Maurice and Marian were married in St. Ansgar, Iowa, on August 29, 1937.

The couple has been rural resident of Mitchell County for all of their married lives and have lived in Osage since their retirement.

They are the parents of eight children and have 15 grandchildren.

Their children attending were: Mrs. Darrell (Marilyn) Fischer of Fresno, California, Mrs. Carroll (Sue) Erickson, Theif River Falls, Minn., Bob of Abilene, Kansas, Ted of Gretna, NB (SIC s/b Nebraska), Russell of Riceville, and Mrs. George (Barbara) Victor of Stratford, Iowa.

Those unable to attend were Mrs. Charles (Beverly) Hamby of Hollister, California, and Darrell of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

They are the parents of four daughters: Mrs. Thomas (JoAnne) Kleckner of Fort Collins, Colorado, Mrs. John (Mary) Napier of Canoga Park, Calif., Bernice Hemrich of Galena, Illinois, and Mrs. Don (Kathleen) Miller of Kansas City, Missouri; three sons, Charles of Farmington, Minnesota, John of Osage and Harold Jr. of Fort Collins, Colorado. The couple has fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

MR. AND MRS. GLEN KROGSTAD

Glen and Dorothy Krogstad will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on July 18, 1987 at the KC Hall in Osage, with a reception from 7-8 p.m. and a dance from 8 to 12.

They are the parents of four daughters, Mrs. Frank (Janet) Philipp of Merrill, Iowa, Mrs. David (Jane) Rowe of Osage, Mrs. Mark (Jean) Powers of Davenport and Janan of Sacramento, Calif. The couple has four grandchildren.

They were married on July 19, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Osage, Iowa.
