Three Hutzell Brothers in Three Branches of Service

The three Hutzell brothers, sons of Mr. & Mrs. James Hutzell, route 1, are each with a different branch of the armed forces.

Sgt. Howard Hutzell, with the army, is returning to the states after spending two years in the European theater of war. Howard was in the first draft to leave Cerro Gordo county and has been in the service over four years.

Kenneth Hutzell, ships' cook 3/c, in the Navy, has arrived in the Pacific theater of war, according to a letter received by his wife, who lives at 1325 Pennsylvania S.W. He enlisted in the navy in March 1944, and took his boot training at Faragut, Idaho.

Pfc Robert D. Hutzell is with the marines. He has just returned to the Great Lakes Naval hospital after spending a 30 day furlough at home. He has been awarded the purple heart for wounds received in action on Iwo Jima last March 17. He enlisted in April, 1944, and went overseas last November.
