Baer, John C.,

 

 

                                      Farmer, S. 33; P.O. Dillon; owns 220 acres of land, valued at $30 per acre; born Oct. 28, 1815, in Bavaria, Germany; he learned the carpenter and joiner’s trade in Germany; he came to the United States in 1839, and settled in Alleghany Co., Md.; worked at his trade there until 1853, when he came to Iowa City, Iowa, where he continued working at his trade until he came to this county in 1869, and settled on his present farm. Married Anna Weigle in Iowa City, June 20, 1843; she was born in Germany Oct. 14, 1823; have twelve children living—Henry, George, Ann, Maggie, Barbara, Frederick, Hannah, Louisa, John, Kate, William and Mary; lost two—Lena and Mary. Members of the Lutheran Church; Democrat.
