Extraction of
data from the official birth books of Madison county as well as from
the 1885 and 1895 censuses was completed in November 2009. Newspaper
extractions will take a few more years. Also to be done, and only
done haphazardly to date are extractions from obits and the Cemetery
List. This is also expected to take several more years. And last,
but not least, extractions from state censuses from surrounding
counties has been started and has proven fruitful. This work will
also take several years to complete.

complete transcription of the 1905 Iowa state census will be
developed and placed on-line in the Iowa Archives. No source
for this microfilm has yet been found. Due to the nature of the
indexing of this census, a transcription may not be practical. |

A
complete transcription of the 1915 Iowa state census will be
developed and placed on-line in the Iowa Archives. No source
for this microfilm has yet been found. |

Madison County State Census (Pending) |

A
complete transcription of the 1925 Iowa state census will be
developed and placed on-line in the Iowa Archives. Digital
images of this census have been obtained. Initiation of the
transcription effort is pending. |

County Churches
(In-work) |
|
Photos
and histories of Madison County churches will be posted. |

Cemetery Index
Upgrade (In-work) |
|
As
a result of the Madison County gravestones project, the Cemetery
Index is being continually upgraded as new stones and/or data are
found. We have also started a systematic gleaning of death notices
and obituaries from the Madison County newspapers. This activity
will take several years to complete. |

Marriage
List Review (In-work) |
|
The
list of marriages posted on this website had information added
that was not part of the original record. The marriage list is
being systematically reviewed and the postings are being corrected
to clearly delineate the original record from any
"enhancements". At the same time, the married couple is
being researched to determine if they had any births in Madison
County that have not been posted and the research data is being
added to our Madison County Family Tree. This activity
will take several years to complete. |
