The Winterset Redeemer Church was commissioned by the Engage Network in January 2014 and Jaysson and Leah Gurwell were called by the Engage Network to plant the church in May of 2014. A core group of 9 committed families was formed to assist in the starting of the church which had its first public service on September 14, 2014. Founding families were the Gurwells, Deckers, Terhaars, Kruegers, DeRondes, Henrys, Fletchers, McMurrys, and Schneiders.

The Redeemer church, as of 2023, does not have a permanent place to hold services. They initially held services at 68 East Court Avenue and currently are holding them at the Winterset High School.

Church officials include, Jaysson Gurwell, founding and current pastor, Tim Cole, Associate pastor and elders Brett Terhaar, Kurt Anderson, and C. J. McMurry.
