Alfred Hansmann 1902-1991

Alfred Hansmann was born June 6, 1902 at George, IA, the son of Henry Sr. and Anna (Uliyzch) Hansmann. He was a long time resident of the George area and he attended country school there.

He married Alvina Siebrands on March 6, 1929 at George, IA. They farmed north of George until moving to town in 1956. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a resident of the George Community Good Samaritan Center since March of 1991. He died there on Saturday, Dec. 14, 1991, at the age of 89 years, six months and nine days.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Lavonne and husband Ted Moliter of Sibley, IA; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Joan Hansmann of George, IA; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna and husbdand O.R. Johnson of George, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Alvina; son Marlyn; infant daughter Evelyn; two brothers, Edward and Henry; one sister, Elsie and one infant sister.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, George, IA, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Rev. Alvin E. Goldhorn
1914 - 2003

Rev. Alvin E. Goldhorn, 88, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Friday April 11, 2003 at 10:45 p.m. at his home in Cherokee.

He was born November 28, 1914 in Castlewood, South Dakota to Eilert and Kate (Peters) Goldhorn. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Margaret and Ben Goldhorn following the untimely death of his mother in 1915. He attended rural school in Lyon County and high school in George, Iowa, graduating in 1933. He attended Central College in Pella, Iowa majoring in Business Administgration and graduating in 1938. One June 22, 1938, he married Vera Willemssen at her parents' home in George, Iowa.

Rev. Goldhorn received his religious education starting at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan for one year and transferring to the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary from which he graduated in 1942. He was ordained into the Presbyterian Ministry on April 16, 1941, beginning a lifetime of Christian service. Rev. Goldhorn was a member of Prospect Hill Presbytery. He served as pastor of Prairie Dell Presbyterian Church at Shannon, Illinois for five years, First Presbyterian Church at Virginia, Illinois for one year, Zion Presbyterian Church at Ellsworth, Minn. for six years, First Presbyterian Church at Redwood Falls, Minn. for 10 years, and the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee, Iowa for 17 years, retiring on April 1, 1978 as Pastor Emeritus.

Following his retirement, he served as moderator for First Presbyterian Church in Paullina, Mt. Pleasant and Cleghorn Presbyterian, and First Presbyterian at LeMars, Iowa and Fonda, Iowa. During his ministry he served on numerous committees and councils of the Presbyterian Church, the Board of Directors of the University of Dubuque and various Ecumenical groups. He was past President of the Cherokee Ministerial Association, and was a ministerial representative, former member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Cherokee Rotary Club, having served as secretary-treasurer. He enjoyed woodworking.

Rev. Goldhorn was a member of Speculative Lodge #307 A.F. & A.M. and former member of Antiquity Lodge #91 in Redwood Falls, Minn. He received his 50-year certificate in 2002. He was a Knights Templar, a member of Crusade Commandery 39 and served as Commander in 1967, Grand Prelate of the Grand Commandery in 1968, 1970 and 1978, Grand Standard Bearer in 1971, and as Eminent Grand Prelate of the Grand Commandery of the State of Iowa for two years. He was a member of the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the parents who raised him, a granddaughter, one sister Margaret Woods, and two brothers Peter and John Goldhorn.

He is survived by his wife, Vera and four children: Fae Bergman and her husband Loren of Mointain Grove, Missori; Noreen Moody of Window Rock, Arizona; Paul Goldhorn and his wife Martha of Beckenham, Kent, United Kingdom; Vivian Schleef and her husband Joseph of Cherokee, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Hermina Wilson of Santa Ana, California; Jane Rose of Castlewood, S.D.; a sister-in-law Lois Goldhorn of Castlewood, S.D.

Alvina Hansmann
1910 - 1988

Funeral services for Mrs. Alvina Hansmann, 77, of George, Iowa, will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in George. Pastor Stanley Hansen will officiate with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

She died on Monday, January 11, 1988 at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Alvina Siebrands was born September 26, 1910 at rural George. She was a lifelong resident of the George area. She married Alfred Hansmann on March 6, 1929. They farmed north of George until moving to town in 1956.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Ted (LaVonne) Molitor of SIbley; one daughter-in-law, Joan Hansmann of George; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one brother, Peter Seebrands of Doon, and one sister, Mrs. Ben (Caroline) Dreesen of Little Rock.

Anna Jansen Goldhorn
( Mrs. Eilert Goldhorn )
(nee Anna Jansen)
1905- 1996

Anna Goldhorn was born September 5, 1905 at rural George, Iowa. She was the daughter of Hiram and Hattie (Heidebrink) Jansen. She attended country school. She also attended college in Sheldon. She taught school for four years.

She married Eilert Goldhorn on June 4, 1927 at Hope reformed Church. She was an active member of Hope Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She looked forward to the Sunday dinners she made for her family.

She died Thursday, March 28, 1996 at the George Good Samaritan Center at the age of 90 years, six months and 24 days.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Eilert of George; two daughters, Arlys Krull and husband Kenneth; and Mavis Niebruegge, all of George. Also left to cherish her memories are six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Minnie Goldhorn of George and Grace Snuttjer of Orange City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; two sisters; and one great-grandson.

Mrs. Frank Heeren
(Nee Anna Siebrands)
1894 - 1980

She was born October 26, 1894 at Freeport, Illinois, to Peter and Eiena (Modder) Siebrands. In 1902 the family came and settled on a farm near George, Iowa.

She was baptized March 5, 1914 at George, Iowa. She was a member of the Salem Reformed Church of Little Rock, Iowa.

She married Frank Heeren on March 29, 1916; they lived on a farm near Little Rock, Iowa, then moved to Northwood, N.D. and farmed there for 27 years, then retired from farming andmoved back to Little Rock in 1947.

On July 11, 1977 she entered the Sibley Care Center in Sibley, Iowa, and was a resident ther for three years. She passed away at a Sioux Falls, S.D. hospital on November 2, 1980 at the age of 86 years, 6 days.

She leaves to mourn: nieces and nephews; 2 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; and a host of relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Frank in 1969; 3 brothers: Dick, Harm and William Siebrands.

Arthur E. "Archie" Heidebrink
1921 - 2004

Arthur E. "Archie" Heidebrink, Age 82, of Rushmore, died Sunday, September 19, 2004, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home, in Ellsworth. He was born October 29, 1921, in rural Nobles County, Minnesota, to Martin and Jennie (Feltman) Heidebrink. Archie attended country school. Upon completion of his education, he was active on the family farm.

Archie married Darleen Block on March 29, 1946, in Little Rock, Iowa. After their marriage the couple lived on the family farm south of Rushmore until 2003. Archie retired from farming in 1983.

He became a resident of the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth in August of 2003. He was a former member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, south of Rushmore, where he served in various offices; and the District #115 School Board. Archie was a member of the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa.

Archie is survived by his wife, Darleen, Elsworth; by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jan Heidebrink, Adrian; and Dennis and Lynn Heidebrink, Chad Heidebrink, Kim Keidebrink, Carrie Heidebrink, Jeremy Heidebrink, Jamie (Devon) Bruns, Jared Heidebrink and Jenny Heidebrink; by five great-grandshildren, Taylor, Johnathon, Donovan, Madison and Linkin; by two sisters-in-law, Helen Heidebrink, Slayton; and Tina Heidebrink, Columbus, Mississippi; three brothers-in-law, Clarence (Eileen) Block, Little Rock, IA; Clifford (JoAnn) Block, Little Rock, Iowa; and Virgil (Betty) Block, Ellsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by two brothers, Harm and Ray Heidebrink; a sister, Grace Johnsen; a brother-in-law Si Johnsen and a nephew, Arba Johnsen.

A funeral service was held for Archie on Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa. Rev. Brian Hellenga officiated. Musical numbers included "The Old Rugged Cross," "In the Garden," and "Nearer My God To Thee." The organist was Amy Haken, and soloists were Ken Meester and Brian Hellenga.

Casket Bearers were: Scott Heidebrink, Chad Heidebrink, Kim Heidebrink, Carrie Heidebrink, Jamie Bruns, Jenny Heidebrink, Jeremy Heidebrink, and Jared Heidebrink.

Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Little Rock, Iowa. Dingmann Funeral Home of Adrian, Minnesota was in charge of arrangements.

Arthur G. Wibben
1925 - 1992

Arthur G. Wibben was born September 4, 1925 at rural George, Iowa, the son of George and Elizabeth (Hansmann) Wibben. He was a life-long resident of the George area.

He married Lorraine Bruns on June 8, 1948. They farmed near George. The last 13 years he had worked for Sudenga Industries, Inc. as a salesman. He was a member of the Hope Reformed Church.

He died Saturday, January 25, 1992 at a Sioux City hospital at the age of 66 years, four months and 22 days.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Lorraine; two sons, Quinten and Darwyn and wife Karen Wibben, all of George, Iowa, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 28, 1922, at Hope Reformed Church in rural George, Iowa, with Pastor Robert Vander Schaaf officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, George, Iowa. Arrangements were by Bolin Fuenral Service of George, Iowa.

Ben Dreesen Jr.
1919 - 1993

Ben Dreesen was born December 8, 1919, at rural Little Rock, Iowa, the son of Ben and Antje (Henderks) Dreesen. He was a life long resident of the Little Rock area. He attended country school.

He married Caroline Siebrands on January 5, 1944. To this union four children were born. They farmed north of Little Rock. He was a member of the Salem Reformed Church.

He died on Thursday, June 17, 1993, at the M.P.C. Hospital in Rock Rapids, Iowa, at the age of 73 years, 6 months, and 10 days.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Caroline, of Little Rock, Iowa; one son, Robert and wife Shawn, of Little Rock, Iowa; two daughters, Barbara and husband David Becwar, of Ferryville, Wisconsin; and Julia and husband, Mike Moorman, of Adrian, Minnesota. Also left to cherish his memories are two grandchildren, Aaron and Morgan; and one sister, Miss Grace Dreesen, of Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, John Dale; five brothers, and one sister.
