Sam was born December 15, 1877, at West Bend, Iowa, the son of Christ and Mary (Luthi) Moser who came to America from Bern, Canton, Switzerland, He married Pauline (Maurer) on June 27, 1901. Pauline was born May 14, 1882, in Roeghiem, Wurtemburg, Germany. She was the daughter of Martin and Christina Maurer. She came to America at the age of nine years.

They farmed east of Lester for three years on what is now the Clercx farm. Then moved to the family farm south of Lester which is now operated by his grandson, Mike Moser.

They had 11 children; 9 sons and 2 daughters: William: Married Viola Stollenberg Christine: Married Glen Benson, Sam: Married Elsie Wynia, Martin: Married Elizabeth VanDeVooren, Carl: Married Hazel Rank, Louise: Married John Tolvstad Adolph: Married Lydia Knobloch Louis: Married Tena LeLoux Harry: Married Frances Cunningham Kenneth: Married Donna Dell Cunningham.

Sam passed away August 3, 1944, on the farm at Lester, Iowa. Polly moved to Lester in the fall of 1958 and died February 9, 1963.
