Christian L. Kellenberger was born in Sabetha, Kansas in 1890. He came to Lester as a young man, working in the carpenter trade. Lena Nester born in 1887 in Northwest Iowa. She started school in Lester and grew up on various farms near Alvord and Lester.

They were married on April 25, 1915. Chris built their first home in Lester, which Chuck Moser now lives in. They later moved northeast of Lester and farmed for forty years. In 1958, they had a crew of carpenters build their retirement home in Lester, except for the interior finishing work, which Chris did himself. He kept busy, even after retiring, with his garden and flowers. He passed away at the age of 85 years on February 12, 1976.

Lena enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and crocheting. She lived to be 92 years old and was active until a few weeks before her death on May 11, 1980.
