COUNTY JAIL
Up to 1882 the jail accommodations in this county were not of the best character, but in April, 1880, all of block 35, situated a short distance from the court house, in a northwesterly direction, was purchased for $1,550. and an appropriation for a good jail and sheriff's house, combined, was made. It was built under the direction of the supervisors and was completed some time in 1882. It is a large and modern style structure, fully ample to meet the present day demands.
