Doon Street Photos

This photo shows the village of Doon in about the year 1900. The photograph was taken from the top of the water tower looking toward the hills to the west. It was in this period that Doon boasted of being "the second largest town in Lyon County."

This is upper Mainstreet, south side, no buildings survive. This area is now city park block. There is only one surviving building on the north side. It is the far right building labeled "Flour & Feed". It has been remodeled into an apartment building.

You can just about judge the period of this photo from the auto, the gas lights, and the apparent ages of the men. The building was then going strong as the Corner Cafe. The men are: Bill Curtis, Jim Harvey, Butch Ryles and Pin Rogers.
