Donnellson Library

The Family History Department at the Donnellson Library has been collecting Obituaries and is in the process of digitizing them. We are beginning with Lee County, however since we live in the *tri-state* area, we also have in our collection those counties nearest to Lee County, including Jefferson, Henry, and Des Moines Counties, also Van Buren County, and the nearby Counties of Illinois and Missouri. These will be added to the website index once we have all the Lee County Obituaries digitized.

This project is in the early stages and will be updated on a monthly basis. The Lee County Obits go back as far as the 1860’s. PLEASE NOTE: Early obits, more commonly known as *Death Notices* often times are no more than a sentence or two, and generally contain very limited information. The newer the obituary, the more likely they will contain a good deal of information.

If you find a name in our index and would like the obituary, please follow the instructions below:

HOW TO OBTAIN AN OBITUARY
1. There are two ways to contact us: via email, or via regular mail. Please email or send regular mail your request to one of the two people listed below:

2. In your obituary request, please include the following:
If requesting an obituary by email, please place OBIT in the Subject Line
The name of the person you found in the index
The ID# assigned to that person you found
Your phone number, including area code so we can reach you

3. Once you have requested an obituary/ies, please send $3.00 per obituary to:

Make sure you include with your check your preference for receiving the obituary: via email or regular mail.
Please include your name, phone number, name of the person on the obituary, and the ID# assigned. Include your email address if you wish us to email you the obituary. Include your regular mailing address if you wish us to mail the obituary via regular mail.
Once we receive your payment, we will send the obituary either via email or regular mail as you have requested.
