Marion Township
List is rural areas only

History: Marion township was laid out in 1836, by Capt. Parks, U.S. Surveyor; sectionized in the same year, and sold in the market in 1838. The first families in the township were Alex Cruickshank, Elias Overton, and Mr. Kempker. The first child was born at Clay Grove - James Cruickshank, son of Alex Cruickshank. He was the first child born in the county. The first store was kept by Mr. Harlan, at Clay Grove. The first school-house was built at Marion Center, in 1839 or 1840.
