Mrs. Devine was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Robert who died in August of this year

and her parents.

NELLIE MOON

Nellie Carrel Moon of Walcott, Ia., 84, a former Algona area resident and sister of Mrs. Lyle Steele of

Algona, died Jan. 2, after suffering a stroke on Dec. 31.

Funeral service for Mrs. Moon was held at Eldon, Mo. on Saturday, Jan. 5.

A daughter of Albert and Adelia Devine Carrel, Nellie was born Nov. 25, 1895 on a farm in Riverdale

Township. She was a granddaughter of Barnett Devine, an early Kossuth settler.

She attended Algona High School, Humboldt College at Iowa State Teachers’ College, teaching in country

schools in the area. She was married to William I. Moon of Des Moines and the couple made their home in

Lake Ozark, Mo. Following the death of her husband on June 30, 1943, Mrs. Moon moved to Walcott, Ia.

to be near her son.

She is survived by two children, a daughter, Adelia Lollar of McKenzie, Tenn. and William I. Moon,

Walcott, Ia. There are six grandchildren and her sister, Alice Steele of Algona, also surviving.
