A.M.E. Church
National Register of Historic Places

In the year 2000, Iowa City's Bethel  A.M.E. church was designated by the National Park Service as one of the nations historic places worthy of preservation. The registration form provides an indepth and thorough review of not only the history of the church, but also the history of the early African American population in Iowa CIty.  In my opinion, the contents of the application are extraordinary and such an important part of Iowa City's cultural history. The form is large  so I've parceled out the various sections and linked to them below.
