Located
Section 22, Washington 81, Range 10 in the S½ of NW¼ which was along  
fence line, east side of road, on the hill side; North of the farm  
buildings to-day.

Andrew Mitchel is buried on his farm, which he got possession from  
the government in 1847; He does not appear in the 1850 Census for  
Brush Run (Moses Mitchel and family do). Andrew did not live long  
enough to enjoy his extensive land purchases, some of which were not  
recorded until long after his death, and settlement of his probate  
(Court # 2706) with Lemuel Owen Admr. final appr. May 7, 1857.

This cemetery has been gone many years, unable to locate any stones  
except a hugh big four sided one in the woodshed on the farm, which  
contained a list for -4- people.

All on one stone.

Andrew Mitchel father in law of Samuel H. Mitchel deceased a private  
to Cap. Fords Co. 3rd. Regt. Ohio Vol. having deposited in land office  
warrant in his favor # 27,375 for the S½ of NW¼ and N½ of SW¼ Sec. 22  
Township 81 Range 10 in District land sales at Iowa City containing  
160 acres (signed by Millard Fillmore.)

Also; Certificate # 428 U.S. to Andrew Mitchel dated Nov. 28, 1857;  
The SE¼ of NE¼ Section 21 Township 81, Range lo- 40 acres

Certif. 4247; U.S. to Andrew Mitchel NE¼ of NW¼ Section 15 Twp. 81  
Range 10 dated November 30, 1857 - 40 acres

This land was owned for many years by Amos Meeks, or wife Maude with  
son Glen, who showed me where the stone were.  In 1915 my dads Aunt  
(Willenbrocks.) lived here, but none of their descendants could rem- 
ember the cemetery; So I have no idea when it was used last, or  
when it disappeared.

Remarks
No attempt have I made to check out families further; This is now  
located west of West Amana, just off Hy. F . 15- Many of the early family  
left long before they came into the area.
