DEGROOTE FAMILY HOLDS REUNION AT HUMBOLDT
152 Descendants of Daniel DeGroote, Early Settler of Humboldt County, Meet at Bicknell Memorial Park for all Day Picnic Sunday, 27 August 1933.

 HUMBOLDT, August 28—The DeGroote family reunion was held Sunday, August 27, at Bicknell Memorial Park, Humboldt.  One hundred and fifty-two relatives were present for the occasion.

 Daniel DeGroote came to Humboldt County from Wisconsin in June, 1965, at the close of the Civil War.  He built the seventh house in the town of Humboldt.  His descendants to the number of 152 were gathered at Humboldt yesterday.  Five sons and daughters survive him.  They are George and Bert of Rutland, Mrs. Mary Davenport of Humboldt, Mrs. Clara Anderson of Los Angeles, all of whom were in attendance yesterday, and Mrs. Queen Jergens of Hugo, Colorado, who was unable to attend.

 The following were present:  Mr. And Mrs. Bert DeGroote and son Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Loren DeGroote, of Rutland;  Mrs. Vera DeSambad and son Daniel;  Mrs. Clara DeGroote Anderson, of Hollywood, Cal;  Mr. and Mrs. James DeSmidt and daughters, Ada, Maude, Mildren, Mabel Dorrit and Anna Marie, the Misses Lucy, Anna and Frances DeSmidt, John DeSmidt, Humboldt;  Mrs. Mary Smith of Clarion;  Mr. and Mrs. P. L. DeSmidt and daughters, Lucille, Helen and Ruth;  Mr. and Mrs. O.H. DeGroote and children, Harold and Betty Jane, Humboldt;  Miss Grace DeGroote of Cedar Rapids;  Mrs. Mary A.  It is planned to have another reunion in one year on the second Sunday in August, at the Bicknell park.
