Mathilda A. Volker, 85

SUMNER - Mathilda A. Volker, 85, Sumner, died Sunday, Jan. 2 at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner after a sudden illness.

A Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Sumner, with Rev. John Purtell presiding. Margaret Murphy was organist and Karen Rochford was vocalist.

Interment was in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Sumner, with Tony Ramos, Randy Jones, Eddy Campbell, Brent Johnson, Scott Strempke, Chris Jones, Brad Jones and Tommy Jones as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Larry Youngton, Kenny Youngton, David Strempke, Clint Strempke, Brian Jones, Keith Jones, Steve Youngton, Mike Ramos, Roger Strempke, Jeff Jones, Todd Jones and Andrew Jones.

Flower Committee was Deanna Joebgen and Kathy Schmitz.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner, with a 4:30 p.m. Rosary.

Mathilda Anna Bouska, the daughter of William and Ludvina (Winter) Bouska, was born Feb. 15, 1914 in Neillsville, WI. She was baptized Feb. 18, 1914 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. On Sept. 23, 1934, Mathilda was united in marriage with Clarence Jones. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 964. Mathilda was then united in marriage with Joseph Volker on Dec. 27, 1964. He preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1993. Mathilda worked for Sumner Pack candling eggs and for the Sumner Bakery. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner. She enjoyed dancing, quilting, sewing and gardening.

Surviving are four sons, Kenneth Jones and Roger Jones, both of Sumner, Leo James Jones, Hawkeye, Robert Jones, Omaha, NE; four daughters, Mary Anderson, Fertile, Leola Strempke, Westgate, Rachael Johnson, Kansas City, MO, Dorothy Baker, New Hampton; two stepsons, Roger Volker, Sumner, Jerry Volker, Clarksville; two stepdaughters, Jeanette Lundberg and Sharon Hartman, Waverly; 42 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; one brother, William Bouska, Costa Mesa, CA; three sisters, Clara Jacobsen, Jesup, Frances Wedeking, Temecula, CA and Mary Hartson, Costa Mesa, CA.

Preceding her in death were her husbands; one son, Ralph Jones, three grandchildren; her parents; stepfather, William Kemp; one brother, Ed Bouska; one sister, Emma Reints.
