Amanda M. Schroeder, 86

TRIPOLI -- Amanda M. Schroeder, 86, Tripoli, died Monday, Jan. 17 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19 at Faith United Church of Christ, Tripoli, with Rev. S. Daniel Dexter presiding. Congregational singing included "How Great Thou Art", "Beautiful Savior" and "I'm But A Stranger Here, Heaven Is My Home".

Interment was in the Faith United Church of Christ Cemetery, Tripoli, with Dan Huebner, Rick Huebner, Bruce Huebner, Ronald Kent, Jess Wright and Jared Kent as casket bearers.

Flower Committee was Sharon Peters and Marlys Ryan.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18 at the Rettig Funeral Home in Tripoli and for one hour preceding services at the church on Wednesday.

Amanda Maria Ella Mathilda Bock, the daughter of Fred and Sophia (Bruns) Bock, was born May 10, 1913 in Bremer County, Iowa. She was baptized June 8’, 1913 at St. John Lutheran Church (Spring Fountain) and confirmed March 28, 1926 at St. Peter's Evangelical Church in Tripoli. On July 12, 1933, she was united in marriage with William Schroeder in Waverly. Prior to her marriage, Amanda worked for Lee Peacock at the Tripoli Leader. She was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli and Faith Circle.

Surviving are three daughters, Florence (Leon) Carlson, New Hampton, Irene (Wilbert) Huebner, Readlyn and Marcille (Kenneth) Kent, Hawkeye; nine grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred (Lawrence) Biermann and Norma (Herman) Rathe, all of Tripoli.

Preceding her in death were her husband, William on Nov. 9, 1973; parents; one great-grandson, Joshua Kent; five brothers, Ted, Fred, Alfred, Albert and Leslie; two sisters, Dora and Hattie.
