Services held for Mary Alice Buttolph, 65

Mary Alice Buttolph, age 65, of Riceville passed away at her residence in Riceville on Sunday, December 24, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Wednesday during the hours of 4-8 p.m. Rosary service will be held at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 5 p.m. during the visitation.

Mary was born in Riceville, Iowa on June 1, 1935 to William and Ella White Smith. She was one of seven children bom to this marriage. Mary Alice attended local schools and on December 27, 1957 was united in marriage to Dale Buttolph.

Survivors include two sons, Tom and his wife Nicole of New Haven, Keith and his wife Lolita of Riceville; one daughter, Michelle and her husband Mark Lewis of Riceville; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also surviving are two brothers, Michael Smith and James Smith and his wife Connie, all of Cedar Rapids, and one sister, Mrs. Russell (Margaret) Fox of Riceville.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale on January 19, 1997, and three brothers, Edward in 2000, William in 1999 and Jerome in 1968.
