Below is the translation of the Last Will & Testament of John Powley. Copy obtained and received from the Norfolk Records Office, Norfolk, England in May, 2004.

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Powley of Hemsby, in the County of Norfolk, Farmer. I nominate constitute and appoint my dear wife Mary Powley to be the sole executrix of this my will.

Also I give and devise all my Copyhold Tenements Land and Heriditaments situate and being in Repps with Bastwick in the said County, and all other my Hereditaments and real Estate whatsoever and wherever situate with the appurtenances unto and to the sole and absolute use of and behoof of my said wife Mary Powley her heirs and assigns  Also I give and bequeath unto my said wife all my stock and crops and Implements of husbandry Household furniture goods chattels and Effects and all other my personal estate of whatsoever nature and description to and for her sole and absolute use and benefit she paying thereout all my just debts Funeral and Testamentary expenses And I hereby revoke all other testamentary writings and declare this writing alone to contain the whole of my will. In Witness whereof I have hereunder set my hand this fourth day of August one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

Proved at Norwich, the twelfth Day of March 1867 by the oath of Mary Powley, Widow, the relict, the sole Executrix, to whom administration was granted.

The Testator John Powley was late of Hemsby in the County of Norfolk Farmer and died on the eighth day of January 1867 at Hemsby aforesaid.
