Abel Powley Home

The Abel Powley house, pictured above, is facing south. The kitchen was a room built on the north side, otherwise the house is classic federal design. Most of the buildings are below the house, to the east toward the creek, Mud Creek, and the river, Boyer River. The house, a chicken coop and a granary were the only buildings in the "triangle". The cattle and hog pens were just a bit north and across the road. A barn, not pictured, had been south of the pens, almost directly east of the house, below the road. (This picture was taken about 1945 by grandparents of Dave Anderson, Sioux City, IA. Dave Anderson provided this picture in March, 1998)
