"Mr. Linn was a native of Sweden but was only (6?9?) yrs of age when he was brought to this country with his mother who located in Boone Co & later to Hamilton Co. At the age of 19 he enl in the war & remained during the war. He rec'd a gunshot wd in the breast & had his shoulder injured by the force of a cannon ball. This permanently disabled him. After the war he purchased a farm for $4 an acre. It was swampy & covered with tall prairie grass but a few yrs hard labor made it one of the best farms in the Co. His life history has not been an exciting one but he has persevered in his work & acquired a comfortable competence for his family."
