Our home is in Iowa, Westward toward the setting sun,
Just between two mighty rivers where the rolling waters run.
It has towns, it has cities, it has many noble streams.
It has nine and ninety counties, and we will now repeat their names.
Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson near Sprit Lake you see,
Emmet, Kossuth, Winnebago, and Worth is near Lake Albert Lea.
Mitchell, Howard, Winneshiek and Allamakee so fine,
Make 11 Northern Counties on the Minnesota line.
Clayton, Dubuque, Jackson, Clinton, together with Scott and Muscatine,
Lee, Louisa, and Des Moines on the Eastern line are seen.
Van Buren, Davis, Appanoose, Wayne, Decatur, Ringold we spy.
Taylor, Page, and Fremont on the Missouri border lie.
Mills, Pottawattamie, Harrison, Monona, Woodbury, Plymouth, and Sioux,
Are all the counties that around the border of our state review.
Next we point you to O'Brien, Palo Alto, and to Clay,
Hancock, Cerro Gordo, Floyd, then see Chickasaw I pray.
Fayette, Bremer, Butler, Franklin, next upon we see,
Wright, and Humboldt, Pocahontas, Buena Vista, Cherokee,
Ida, Sac, Calhoun, Webster and Hamilton with names so rare.
Hardin, Grundy, Black Hawk then Buchanan, Delaware,
Jones, Linn, Benton, Tama, Marshall, Story, Crawford, Carroll, Boone.
Let not your patience weary we'll have them all too soon.
Cedar, Greene, Johnson, Iowa, Jasper, Poweshiek by the same.
Jefferson, Polk, and Madison, names of presidential fame.
Guthrie, Audubon, Shelby, Cass,
Mahaska, Adair, Warren, Marion, Dallas and Keokuk are there.
Wapello, Monroe, Washington, and Henry we have missed.
Lucas, Clark, Union, Adams and Montgomery fills the list.
