Vital records in the State of Iowa were officially recorded beginning in the year 1880.
In Grundy County, you may find records as early as 1875 for births and 1856 for marriages.
These records can be searched at the Grundy County Courthouse Recorder's office, with the following exceptions ...
- Birth, Marriage, and Death records for the years 1921-1941 must be searched and requested at the state level.
- All single parent births prior to July 1, 1995 must be requested at the state level.
- All adoption records must be requested at the state level.
- Any record ordered sealed by a court of law.
