      Killed September 12th at St. Mihiel. Buried in Grave No. 13-C. Map of Pannes. Son of Mrs. Mary McManus, Cherokee, Iowa. In the attack at St. Mihiel, Sergeant McManus was out in front leading his men when he was hit and killed by a machine un bullet. He was a good soldier and a leader of men. Sergeant McManus was rated as one of the best sergeants in his company. He was loved and trusted by all his comrades and his men were ready to go with him on any mission, now matter how dangerous.

        Killed September 12, 1918 at St. Mihiel near Fliery. Buried in Grave No. 14-A, Map of Pannes. Son of Mrs. Matilda Loos, Wheeling, Virginia. Private Loos was killed during the attack on the St. Mihiel salient.
